Aloha Tosa!

Aloha, this is me and Bigg Matt at last fall’s Copperhead Invite Olympic Weightlifting meet where I competed. You’ll see and hear a lot about Pro-Strongman Matt WanAt as he gets back to International competition after his bicep tear in Holland last June. (Plus he makes me look dainty.) Matt is a lifetime resident (for the most part) of Wauwatosa and knew to feed me local food (http://onmilwaukee.com/market/articles/onokinegrindz.html) to fall in love with the Village. As a coach for Mark Rippetoe these last two years at his gym, Wichita Falls Athletic Club, and a permanent member of his staff for his Starting Strength seminars, I’ve honed over 20 years of coaching skills into teaching effective, useful, barbell training for optimum strength and conditioning results. I’m forever grateful to Rip and the knowledge he’s shared and continues to share with me as I transition back to the great white north. jp

Straightforward barbell programming including the Olympic lifts; sound (read: not fancy bullshit) diet advance for weight gain or loss; and strong coaching will ensure you will meet your goals of becoming stronger, more explosive, and better conditioned. Juli has been coaching teams and athletes for over 20 years. She grew up participating in various sports at various levels but was always drawn to those that require strength training. Her 4 years of training and coaching under Mark Rippetoe has honed her coaching skills to be a top choice for you to reach your strength and conditioning goals. She is an active competitor in Weightlifting, receiving the Silver Medal in the 2016 World Master's Championship; is a Master's World Champion in Highland Games, and competes in Highlander Games. Juli will strongly encourage tosabarbell athletes to compete (and prepare you to do so.) However; tosabarbell is also for those who just wish to be stronger and go through life feeling better. Matt WanAt is a Professional Strongman who competes regularly with Strongman Champions League in Europe. He played a year of D1 football with Iowa before concentrating on his Chemical Engineering degree in Iowa City. He is a native of Wauwatosa and still remains a staunch supporter of Tosa East. Matt will host many Strongman Saturdays at tosabarbell which are sure to be followed by food. Lots of food. This blog will be a mixture of strength notes, coaching and nutrition tips, bacon delicacies, and a whole lot of fun.
