A Venti sized Brew-Ha appeared on the news and the interwebz yesterday. It seems Starbucks CEO has asked that people not open carry weapons into their shops for fear of disturbing gun rights opponents. Uhhhhhh, ok. He specifically said that if folks want to bring their weapons in anyway, “We’ll serve them with a smile and not confront them.”
But some of the Gunz folks completely over reacted (as Americans tend to do these days) and some have called for a ban on all Starbucks. Hey! Folks! Calm down and get the facts. Where’s THAT shirt? I’d wear that shirt. Just slow down, get the facts, and stop reacting with temper tantrums that equal a two year old’s.
The obvious question is…why give a press release at all? You basically said nothing and people are so reactionary that both sides were pissed off at nothing you said. Starbucks asked folks not to bring their guns in, but if they want to, that’s okay too. Huh? So what you’re ACTUALLY saying is, uh, status quo, dude? Nothing to see here, move along.
I didn’t even give it a second thought. Until someone asked me to ban Starbucks for their anti-gun views. Uhhhhhh, no. See, there are two reasons why I ban restaurants (folks at the Sherbrook on North ave. pay attention) Shit Service and Shit Product. Starbucks walks north of those two lines (at times, barely) so I’ll stick with an occasional drive through triple tall Americano thank you very much. What I won’t do is participate in this hyper-sensitive hysteria that 24-7 news has brought on. Good lord people, what happens in your life when something important goes awry? I’m just so very tired of this “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” bullshit that’s at every corner in America. You have Christian values that disagree with another persons lifestyle? BAN THEM! No more Chicken sammiches! Death to your business.
OR
Ya know what? I don’t feel comfortable eating there so I won’t but I’ll shut up about it cuz I respect their right to disagree with me just as I have a right to disagree with them. Hysterical over reaction? Media pawns folks, that’s what you become. Stop that. But at the very least, get the facts and choose for yourself.
For thirty years,” he said, “I’ve sailed the seas and seen good and bad, better and worse, fair weather and foul, provisions running out, knives going, and what not. Well, now I tell you, I never seen good come o’ goodness yet. Him as strikes first is my fancy; dead men don’t bite; them’s my views—amen, so be it.
